Artificial Intelligence is no longer some distant vision of the future—it’s already here, reshaping how we live, work, and dream. And I’ve been walking right into the heart of this transformation. As a Black woman in AI, I’ve spent years blending deep technical expertise with something just as critical: imagination, exploration, and a commitment to build in service of humanity.

Nearly a decade ago, I worked on IBM’s Watson Education, and that experience gave me a front-row seat to AI’s potential—not just as a powerful tool, but as a force that can help us redefine what it means to be human. I’ve seen firsthand how, when guided by our values, AI can unlock creativity, expand opportunity, and shift entire paradigms.

One area that holds a special place in my heart is space exploration. I’ve been a space enthusiast for as long as I can remember. To me, AI isn’t just about solving problems here on Earth—it’s also about reaching for the stars. Imagine algorithms decoding mysterious signals from the cosmos, mapping unknown celestial bodies, or accelerating our search for extraterrestrial life. I see AI helping us understand our place in the universe—and maybe even making contact beyond it.

But let me bring it back down to Earth: AI’s impact isn’t limited to the stars. It’s revolutionizing the systems we rely on every day. In healthcare, it’s helping doctors diagnose illnesses, read complex scans, and tailor treatments to individual patients.

In finance, it’s predicting market shifts, identifying fraud in real time, and shoring up cybersecurity systems that protect people’s livelihoods. In transportation, it’s optimizing delivery routes, powering autonomous vehicles, and streamlining the global logistics chain.
