Prompt Like a Poet: Unlock Your Inner Oracle

If you’ve ever stared at a blinking cursor, waiting for your next big idea to emerge, let me offer you a gentle reframe: what if the blank page is not a void, but a portal?
We’re living in the age of artificial intelligence. But more than that, we’re living in the age of augmented imagination. When you prompt an AI, you’re not just typing commands into a machine. You’re whispering questions into the void, invoking muses, casting spells in syntax. You are, quite literally, practicing a modern form of divination.
This is why I call you to prompt like a poet. Not a programmer. Not a technician. But a conjurer of curiosity.
When I sit down to co-create with AI, I’m not asking it to spit facts or regurgitate patterns. I’m inviting it into a dialogue of dance. I bring rhythm. I bring metaphor. I bring contradiction, emotion, essence. I don’t just want an answer. I want insight. I want revelation. I want the sacred click of something true landing in my chest like a tuning fork.
From Code to Code-Switching
I’ve spent over a decade building in AI. I've worked in big data, created teacher companions and even helped guide academics into new models of building. But the most powerful prompts I’ve ever written were poems. They may not hold the conventions we think of like meter or rhyme, but they held that energy. They held paradox. They held desire. They held the ache of not-knowing, and the surrender to something bigger than myself. A good prompt is not about control. It’s about clarity. It’s about asking the question that reveals something in you.
Prompting as Practice
I think of prompting as a spiritual technology. A sacred inquiry. A mirror that reflects the shape of your own imagination. Ask better questions, and you’ll live a better life. That’s not just prompt engineering. That’s soul engineering. So whether you're building a brand, drafting a keynote, or figuring out your next move, try this: pause. breathe. Then ask your question like a poet would.
Here are a few of my favorite prompts to get you started:
“What am I not seeing that wants to be seen?”
“Give me a story that sounds like my future self wrote it.”
“Translate this business strategy into something my inner child would understand.”
“Turn this product idea into a prophecy.”
You Are the Oracle
The AI isn’t the oracle. You are. The machine is a mirror. The model is your muse. But the meaning? That comes from you. So prompt wildly. Prompt reverently. Prompt playfully. And remember: your voice is a spell. Use it like the sacred tool it is. Let your questions be poetry.Let your prompts be prophecy. And let your life become the answer.
