Packing Up to Begin a Life of Exploration

I’m writing this with suitcases poised, sore back, heart fluttering, excitement buzzing, nostalgia gently tugging at my tear ducts every time I open a drawer, and ready for the next big adventure calling my name. What started as moving from a spacious 5-bedroom home in the East Bay to a cozy nook in San Francisco has evolved into empty-nester life as a nomad, kicking off in vibrant Baja, Mexico.

Shrinking from spacious to snug has taught me plenty about simplicity and true essentials. Each move, first Berkeley, then SF, taught me the beauty of clearing out clutter, leaving room for joy and intention to blossom.

If we are friends you know that I will always keep laughing. Packing up the "stuff" has had many hilarious moments so far. Like the Women of Success Award tumbling down shattering spectacularly as if to say, "Yeah time to stop taking yourself so seriously." Or when my son diagnosed me with N.O.D. (Needless Organization Disorder) due to my weird habit of stockpiling empty containers labeled optimistically for some future use.

And let's not forget my proud purchase from my former life as executive chef to the House of Teen Boys: an industrial-grade pancake dispenser. Because, obviously, pancakes needed industrial-grade precision. Packing that away was both ridiculous and bittersweet.

Letting go has been liberating physically, mentally and spiritually. With fewer things cluttering my space, I find myself lighter, clearer, more open to creativity, and ready for whatever comes next.

Now, as my boys blaze their own trails, I'm setting out on mine. Baja is my starting line, with surfboards and salty breezes and Spanish lessons. Each wave, each new word, is a fresh beginning, full of creativity and exploration. Kim’s AI Imaginarium will have dedicated time and space, as I dive deeply into the sweet spot where technology, philosophy, and artistic exploration mingle beautifully.

Leaving behind the techno-buzz of San Francisco and the friends who've brightened my days is tough. But as a wise friend sarcastically reminded me, “you’ve been talking about this for years, it's about time." Truth.

So, here I go. Bags packed, pancake dispenser donated (finally), heart wide open. I hope my adventure inspire yours. Simplify, laugh freely, spark creativity, and always lean into curiosity. Here's to living with joy, intention, and flow. Let the journey begin.
